About

Hi, I’m Bilal.

I’ve been writing software for about two decades. In my off-hours I build free apps for nonprofits and my community, and the occasional tool I want for myself.

sous is one of those tools. AI made it easy to keep ten or twenty projects moving at once; keeping track of them was the hard part. Which one has a review waiting for me? Where did I leave off in this one? What did I promise to come back to?

So sous answers those in one place, and shows up on its own: in a new terminal, and in every agent session, so the agent starts where I left off too. It’s an index, not a tracker. The work stays in git and wherever the project already keeps it.

It’s a sibling of shellbell, which brings a terminal to you when it needs attention. I build and maintain both on my own, alongside my other work. The code is open so you can read it, run it, and write the plugin your work needs.

sous is free and MIT licensed. It runs on your machine, keeps what it knows in~/.sous, and talks only to the tools you already use.
